About The Event
October has been designated as Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. There are over 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Domestic Violence is a pattern of violent and coercive behavior used by one partner (Intimate Partner, Familial, Cohabitant or Bystander) in a relationship to control another. Every 9 seconds in the USA a woman is assaulted or beaten. Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.
Chosen Vessel's Women of Works Ministry wants to increase awareness about both Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence by hosting Pink & Purple Out The Vessel on Sunday, October 23rd. On that day, regardless if you're worshipping in person or virtually; everyone is encouraged to wear Pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness or Purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness.
To help spread the word about Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence , the 40+ Double Dutch Club (a group of 40+ women who have a mission to empower women in mental health and physical fitness, all while inspiring them in friendship, fun, and fellowship)Â will be featured in a fun and interactive performance following service on Sunday, October 23rd.
